Sabres Support Special Olympics

Special Olympics Maryland will be holding its annual Floor Hockey State Championship at the Capital Clubhouse on Saturday February 27, 2010. Athletes will participate in individual skills competitions and teams will compete in a one-day tournament for the State Championship.

Special Olympics needs volunteers to help support these events during the following dates/times:

·         Friday February 26, 2010, from noon – 6pm

o    Set-up and prepare the courts for competition.

o    10-15 volunteers needed, ages 12 and up

·         Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 8am – 6pm

o    Keep score, assist with skills stations, Opening Ceremony and Awards Ceremonies, clean-up, etc.

o    30 volunteers needed, during 2 time slots (8am – 1pm and 1pm – 6pm) ages 12 and up.

Note:  The minimum age to volunteer with hands-on activities with the athletes is 18 years old. However, persons under 18 years of age may volunteer with the supervision of an adult.

Proof of community service is available to student athletes who need service hours.
